Temporary Exhibit: The Gallant Thousand: Ottawa and the South African War | May 17th 2019 to February 17th 2020

The Gallant Thousand: Ottawa and the South African War is an exciting new temporary exhibition presented by the BYTOWN MUSEUM to mark the 120th anniversary since the beginning of the South African (Boer) War in 1899.

Featuring exceptional artefacts, unique photographs, and contemporary accounts, this new special exhibition will reveal Ottawa’s contribution in South Africa and explore how the Canadian experience shaped future military involvement overseas.

Remembrance Week | November 7th to November 11th

Write a postcard to a veteran and draw a poppy to help us decorate a wreath of remembrance. The BYTOWN MUSEUM is proud to feature Veterans Affairs Canada’s Postcards for Peace program to commemorate those who have served and honour those who continue to bravely serve our country.
